Just 20 minutes from Colle
Val d’Elsa, there is the town of SIENA, with its famous “Piazza
del Campo”, known for its particular form similar to
a shell, and , of course, for the “Palio di Siena”,
the traditional horse race, that takes place every year,
the 2nd of July and the 16th of august, since 1147. These
dates represent the two main events for tourists from all
around the world. Some others interesting places in Siena
are the Cathedral, the St. Domenico’s church (where
there are relics of St. Caterina from Siena), and the Mangia
tower, built in 1348, which is also the highest building
of the town. |
